Projects
Research Direction: EU AI Governance
We would like your project to focus on aspects of EU AI Governance, especially matters that would help clarify certain aspects of the EU AI Act, or relevant other areas of EU law/policy. Some of the ideas you could explore include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Defining ambiguous terms in the GPAI Code of Practice
- Exploring the idea of one single digital regulator in the EU/the AI Office becoming an independent EU agency
- Hugging Face incidents (and others) under the AI Act
- Comparative legal study of national tort law and/or criminal law in EU member states in relation to AI incidents
- Europe's role in pacing the frontier
- What is the right approach to developing and deploying AI for Europe
What we’re looking for in a Mentee
We are looking for someone curious and motivated and with appropriate experience or interest in policy or law, depending on the research project.
What we’re like as Mentors
We expect to mentor you for up to 2 hours per week (from both of us), whether via calls or messages, or reviewing longer written documents. We are happy to adjust to your needs concerning communication styles, but we expect mostly independent work with some directions and feedback from us.
